American Soldiers in Afghanistan

I came across this news story on the BBC's website today. I highly recommend taking the time to read the article and look through the pictures. Our soldiers are incredible.

lol, you had to have an afghan see your blog huh ? Smiling I think you have a nice site, albeit sparce in content... but, I wish you luck in your business venture.

I would like to give some perspective to your story though

I believe, that the situation in both Iraq, Afghanistan and in other places like Palestine/Israel is not done at all with the best interests of either the citizens of those countries OR the citizens of the United States/United Kingdom. I feel sorry for the soldiers, many of whom are from poor backgrounds, that they are made to fight for rich oil tycoons.

I feel especially sorry for the civillians who are killed by them and forgotten.

When U.S. warplanes strafed [with AC-130 gunships] the farming village of Chowkar-Karez, 25 miles north of Kandahar on October 22-23rd,killing at least 93 civilians, a Pentagon official said, "the people there are dead because we wanted them dead." The reason? They sympathized with the Taliban1. When asked about the Chowkar incident, Rumsfeld replied, "I cannot deal with that particular village."

Thanks for posting! Yeah, this blog is fairly underused as most of my content sits on an old site. But even the business side of it fell by the wayside as my efforts are mainly focused at Ubercart.org. I appreciate your insight, and would clarify that while I'm no expert on the motives or reasoning behind the combat operations, I still find their courage and strength incredible. (Thinking of pictures 8/9 in the photo essay.) Stories of camaraderie in the midst of battle are some of the most amazing tales I've heard. Granted, there are other photos in the essay that show exactly the ill effects of combat operations, and I definitely don't find those incredible.
